Fresno Mines and the Ghost Town of Buena Suerte
Fresno Mines is the home to cinnabar, the red pigment in Native American pictographs and the source of mercury that shaped the fortunes and destiny of Big Bend in the early 1900’s. The ghost town of Buena Suerte stands in mute testimonial to a bygone era when the quicksilver produced in Big Bend was a significant part of the world economy. You will be amazed at the ingenuity our ancestors used to extract “desert gold” from the dry, parched earth. This is a great tour for folks who are fascinated with mining and human history. This tour operates by Jeep or ATV and includes and experienced guide and snack. Trip departs Red Rock daily at 8:00 a.m. and returns at Noon.




'Round the Bend
An easy going adventure for a first-time visitor to the Big Bend or for those who more a living history of the area. Explore old ruins, geological formations, and the great view along the Ross Maxwell and Maverick Roads in the National Park. This trip departs from Texas Jeep and River Expeditions in Study Butte at 9:00 a.m. and returns at 4:00 p.m. Lunch is provided.
