Fresno Mines is the home to cinnabar, the red pigment of the Indian pictorgraphs and the source of mercury which shaped the fortunes and destiny of the Big Bend in the late 1800's. The ghost town of Buena Suerte, located at the hub of the mines, stands in mute testimonial to a bygone era when the quick silver produced in Big Bend was a significant part of the world economy.
