Ride for Trails, October 16th-18th
Whether you are an experienced or new biker, you won't want to miss the 12th annual "Ride for Trails" motorcycle road rally, the weekend of October 16-18, 2009.  The rally benefits The Friends of Big Bend National Park, a non-profit organization, established in 1996. All proceeds raised at the rally goes directly to Big Bend National Park for youth corps and volunteer groups in the construction and maintenance of hiking and stock trails in the park. Terlingua’s International Chili Cook-off WeekendEach year on the first Saturday of November CASI (Chili Appreciation Society International, Inc.) holds the ultimate celebration of Chili right in Terlingua, just 7 miles from Lajitas!  This unique and fun visitor friendly event starts this year on Wednesday November 4 and culminates with the finals on Saturday afternoon.  It's a Texas tradition of epic proportion - complete with an annual proclamation from the Governor declaring "Chili Appreciation Society International Day" in Texas!
